There are so many keywords and even more variations of the keywords, its hard to know which to track. A common strategy is to monitor a small bucket of variations for a keyword you care about. For example, if your keyword is “Plumber” I would track “Plumber”, “Plumber+city” “Plumber+city+state” and I would consider tracking the plural versions as well. This allows you to see if a majority of variations move in rank or just one keyword. Without tracking buckets of keywords, you could be seeing the one keyword that might be losing ranks, but all the other variations are actually gaining ranks.
